CAROLINE BED DOLL BY RICOCHET 1950

Caroline  is a crochet bed doll pattern by Ricochet 1950. I originally found at http://www.ricochet1950.com. Sadly, this site is no longer available. I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing her beautiful patterns. I have not actually done this pattern yet but  her patterns are usually correct.  Enjoy!

CAROLINE

Materials
Red Heart Soft 5 oz skeins – 2 green
Red Heart Soft 5 oz skeins – 3 white
3 snaps
2 yds 3/8″ green picot ribbon
2 yds 3/8″ white picot ribbon
13″ bed doll
doll stand
Crochet hook size G

Slip
Use Basic Hoop Slip for 13″ bed doll.

Bodice
Row 1 – With green, ch 21, sc in 2nd ch from hook & in ea ch across, ch 1, turn. (20 sc)
Row 2 – * sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ch 1, turn. (30 sc)
Row 3 – sc in ea sc across, ch 1, turn. (30 sc)
Row 4 – * sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ch 1, turn. (40 sc)
Row 5 – (armholes) sc in next 6 sc, ch 4, sk next 8 sc, sc in next 12 sc, ch 4, sk next 8 sc, sc in last 6 sc, ch 1, turn.
Row 6 – sc in ea sc & ch across, ch 1, turn. (32 sc)
Row 7 – sc in next 8 sc, dec over next 2 sc, sc in next 12 sc, dec over next 2 sc, sc in last 8 sc, ch 1, turn. (30 sc)
Rows 8 – 11 – sc in ea sc across, ch 1, turn. (30 sc)
Row 12 – sc in ea sc across, ch 3, turn. (30 sc)

Skirt

Row 13 – Working in BLO, 3 dc in ea sc across, join w/sl st in top of beg ch 3, do not turn, ch 3 (does not count as dc). (90 dc)
Note: From here on out you will be working in Rnds instead of Rows.
Rnds 14 – 15 – dc in ea dc around, join, ch 3. (90 dc)
Rnd 16 – * dc in next 8 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join, ch 3. (100 dc)
Rnd 17 – Working in BLO, dc in ea dc around, join, ch 3. (100 dc)
Rnd 18 – * dc in next 9 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join, ch 3. (110 dc)
Rnd 19 – Repeat Rnd 14. (110 dc)
Rnd 20 – * dc in next 10 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join, ch 3. (120 dc)
Rnd 21 – Repeat Rnd 17. (120 dc)
Rnd 22 – * dc in next 11 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join, ch 3. (130 dc)
Rnd 23 – Repeat Rnd 14. (130 dc)
Rnd 24 – * dc in next 12 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join, ch 3. (140 dc)
Rnd 25 – Repeat Rnd 17. (140 dc)
Rnd 26 – * dc in next 13 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join, ch 3. (150 dc)

Rnd 27 – Repeat Rnd 14. (150 dc)
Rnd 28 – * dc in next 14 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join. Fasten off green. (160 dc)

Bottom Ruffle
Rnd 29 – Join white w/sl st in first dc, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, sk 2 dc, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc, sk 2 dc. Repeat from * around, join w/sl st in top of beg ch 3. (54 shells)
Rnd 30 – sl st to ch 2 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same sp, * (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch 2 sp. Repeat from * around, join in top of beg ch 3.
Rnd 31 – sl st to ch 2 sp, ch 3, 8 dc in same sp, * 9 dc in next ch 2 sp. Repeat from * around, join. Fasten off.

First Ruffle
Rnd 1 – With neck edge of dress toward you, join white w/sl st in first unused lp of Rnd 25, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, sk 2 lps, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next lp, sk 2 lps. Repeat from * around, join in top of beg ch 3. (47 shells)
Rnds 2 – 3 – Repeat Rnds 30 & 31 of Bottom Ruffle.

Second Ruffle
Join white w/sl st in first unused lp of Rnd 21. Repeat Rnds 1 – 3 of First Ruffle. (40 shells)

Third Ruffle
Join white w/sl st in first unused lp of Rnd 17. Repeat Rnds 1 – 3 of First Ruffle. (34 shells)

Fourth Ruffle
Rnd 1 – Join white w/sl st in first unused lp of Rnd 13, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same lp, sk 1 lp, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next lp, sk 1 lp. Repeat from * around, join. (15 shells)
Rnds 2 – 3 – Repeat Rnds 30 & 31 of Bottom Ruffle.

Sleeves
Rnd 1 – Join green w/sl st in 3rd ch at underarm, ch 1, sc in same sp & in next ch, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in ea of next 4 sc, sc in next 2 sc, sc in last 2 ch at underarm, join, ch 1. (16 sc)
Rnds 2 – 4 – sc in ea sc around, join, ch 1. (16 sc)
Rnd 5 – * sc in next 2 sc, dec over next 2 sc. Repeat from * around, join, ch 1. (12 sc)
Rnd 6 – Repeat Rnd 5. (8 sc) Fasten off green.
Rnd 7 – Join white w/sl st in same sp as joining, ch 3, 6 dc in same sp, sk 1 sc, * 7 dc in next sc, sk 1 sc. Repeat from * around, join w/sl st in top of ch 3. Fasten off.

Neck Edging
Join white w/sl st in first st at neckline, ch 1, sc in same sp & in ea ch across, ch 1, sl st in same sp as last sc was made. Fasten off.

Finishing
Sew 3 snaps to back opening.
Cut 1 yd of white & green ribbon. Holding both ribbons together, thread thru 1 st at ea side of waist at underarms. Tie into bow at back. Trim ends at an angle.

Hat
Rnd 1 – With green, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join. Mark beg of rnd here and throughout, unless otherwise stated.
Rnd 2 – 2 sc in ea sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3 – * sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. (18 sc)
Rnd 4 – * sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. (24 sc)
Rnd 5 – * sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. (30 sc)
Rnd 6 – * sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. (36 sc)
Rnd 7 – * sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around, join, ch 1. (42 sc)
Rnd 8 – Working in BLO, sc in ea sc around, join, ch 1. (42 sc)
Rnds 9 – 12 – sc in ea sc around, join, ch 1. At end of Rnd 12, fasten off green. (42 sc)
Rnd 13 – Join white w/sl st in same sp as joining, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, sk 1 sc, * (2 sc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next sc, sk 1 sc. Repeat from * around, join in top of beg ch 3.
Rnd 14 – sl st into ch 2 sp, ch 3, 6 d in same sp, * 7 dc in next ch 2 sp. Repeat from * around, join. Fasten off.

Finishing
Cut 1 yd each of white & green ribbon. Holding both strands together, & begining at center back, weave ribbons thru sts of Rnd 7. Tie into bow at back & trim ends.

  1. Thank you for the free patterns. Now I am looking for the doll head with the upper body and arms. Small insert in back for music box. Michael’s store use to sell the dolls but they don’t have them anymore. Do u have any idea where where I might get them
